Video submissions will be posted at the discretion of United Way of the Alberta Capital Region. Therefore, not all video submissions will be posted. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

JUDGING CRITERIA

Top 10 submissions will be determined by a panel of industry professionals, based on a carefully designed rating scale. Winner will be chosen using a social score based on community vote, video views, video shares, and social media activity.

  • Quality of Message/Lyrics
  • Alignment With Focus of United Way Alberta Capital Region
  • Reflects the Story of Poverty in the Region
  • Uniqueness and Creativity
  • Potential for Further Artist Development
  • Overall Feeling the Video Conveys

*Please note that while the overall quality of your music video may help with your views and votes, it is only a small part of the carefully selected judging criteria, and all production levels of videos are welcome.

SOME HELPFUL TIPS TO PROMOTE YOUR VIDEO AND HELP FIGHT POVERTY IN THE REGION:

  • ¬†Share your video and the contest page on all your social media channels at least once daily. Use the hashtag #myUWvoice.
  • Encourage your friends, family and co-workers to vote once daily, and encourage them to share your video on their social media outlets to give you extra votes.
  • Create even more video content on your contest profile page, and engage your fans and audience online.
  • Where appropriate, share your contest link among your personal and professional networks: school websites, work newsletters, community papers, websites and blogs.
  • Make announcements at all your live performances leading up to the voting deadlines.
  • Encourage your family, friends and co-workers to help fight poverty in the region by making a donation on the contest website. Add this to the end of your video.
